In 1986 Rudy Graf purchased a small Maine manufacturing company making hands on science curricula material with a few employees in an old garage with a house trailer for an office.  He called it The Science Source and proceeded to make it just that.

He built a new facility in Waldoboro, Maine bringing in modern manufacturing methods, an in house development team, new equipment for more dependable quality and yet, still making inexpensive basic science equipment.  Through the years we have added a chemistry kit company from Massachusetts, a biological model company from Wisconsin, a spectacular illuminated globe from California and most recently acquired the Daedalon Corporation of Salem, Mass.

Now twenty-three years later, over 40 people are employed at The Science Source's modern 18,000 sq. ft. facility in Waldoboro, Maine.  We offer over 800 items for teaching physics, physical science, chemistry, biology, environmental science, and design technology.  We provide products to all the major US suppliers and many overseas as well.

We are still guided by the conviction that the hands-on teaching of science — students performing their own experiments rather than observing an instructor — is the best way to learn.

We're proud of the fact that much of The Science Source product line evolved out of curricula developed by the Physical Science Study Committee at MIT and Project Physics at Harvard University.  We have continued to expand our lines incorporating new thinking in education with new partnerships in curriculum, unique new products and updated solutions to age old principles.

Our goal is to continue developing and producing high-quality innovative science and technology teaching materials.  We welcome your ideas and suggestions to make the career of teaching and the learning of science a rewarding one.

If your travels bring you to midcoast Maine, make The Science Source part of your visit.
